Textron Aviation to suspend Hemisphere development programme

Textron Aviation has announced plans to suspend the development of its Citation Hemisphere business jet.

Textron CEO Scott Donnelly pointed to continuing issues with Safran’s Silvercrest engine that was designated to power the large-category business jet. Safran says that the "initial contract" with Cessna has been "terminated with no financial impact for either partner". Safran continued to explain, that while aircraft-engine combination does not currently meet all of the program’s objectives, Silvercrest engine development has made the intended progress over the past 12 months. The engine-maker continues to work on its Silvercrest technology suite as a R&T platform. Dassault Aviation had cancelled its Falcon 5X program due to continuing development problems with the engine.
